Spectacular collection of dynamic abstract Redwood floor sculptures and tabletop sculptures created by artist Daryl Stokes. These intriguing contemporary wood sculpture designs combine a visually fascinating blend of bold angular burl wood forms that interact gracefully with the gnarled burl wood protrusions and appendages producing distinct visual contrasts.
All of the Redwood floor sculptures are shown with three separate images in order to provide additional perspectives.

These stunning abstract sculpture designs have been composed with a combination of organic redwood burls and driftwood components that have been individually carved with chain saws, shaped with grinders and permanently assembled with steel bars. Afterwords, the flat geometric surfaces and highlighted wood forms are carefully sanded and polished to reveal the spectacular grain patterns inherent in the redwood burls. Finally the sculptures are thoroughly finished with a high quality clear oil which brings out the rich colors and wood luster. Each Redwood sculpture is unique and one of a kind. Although these wood sculpture designs cannot be duplicated, it is possible in some cases to create similar sculptures.
Nearly all of the redwood burl wood and driftwood materials used in these sculptures is derived from the underground stumps and root areas of ancient redwoods which have fallen victim to severe winter storm actions, landslides and forest fires. Many were washed down rivers and swept out to sea to eventually return to the beaches as scoured driftwood.
All redwood sculptures are signed and numbered by Daryl Stokes and include an artist certificate of authenticity. The timeless beauty of these majestic giants live on in Stokes's artistic creations.

Artist/Sculptor Daryl Stokes has been creating exotic redwood furniture, abstract floor sculptures and wall designs, and rustic indoor/outdoor floor fountains for over 30 years,on Monterey's famous Cannery Row and currently at his residential work shop. All of these incredible functional and sculptural redwood designs have been composed predominately from underground redwood burl and driftwood pieces and are all one of a kind designs. Please Note that No living trees have been utilized to create these works of art. All of the redwood materials are reclaimed wood from fallen trees that had been victimized from acts of nature.
The organic redwood driftwood and burl wood components have been carved with chain saws to enhance the natural forms. Afterwords the wood designs are further shaped and polished with grinders and sanders. Finally the sculpture components are carefully assembled with durable steel bars and treated with a durable clear oil finish.
